WELCOME TO THE 2024 MLYBA SEASON!
Welcome to the 2024 Moses Lake Youth Baseball Season. We had over 500 players in 2023 and excited about the continued grow and development of baseball in our community. We had nearly 70 coaches across all the leagues and many volunteers!
We're calling all Coaches for 2024. We need Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches for all levels. Ideally we would see a coaching staff of 3 per team plus 1 manager.
Head Coach
- The head coach in youth baseball is often a more experienced and knowledgeable individual who takes on a leadership role. They are responsible for the overall management and direction of the team.
- The head coach typically makes strategic decisions during games, manages the team's practice sessions, and oversees player development.
- Beyond on-field responsibilities, the head coach may also interact with parents, coordinate team logistics, and ensure a positive and inclusive team culture.
- In youth baseball, player development and the teaching of fundamental skills are often critical aspects of the head coach's role.
Assistant Coach
- Assistant coaches in youth baseball support the head coach in various capacities. They may work closely with specific player groups, focusing on skill development and providing individualized attention.
- Assistant coaches often assist with organizing and running practices, helping players understand and execute fundamental techniques.
- Depending on the size and structure of the coaching staff, assistants may also take on specific responsibilities, such as base coaching, pitching instruction, or working with infielders or outfielders.
- Assistant coaches contribute to creating a positive and supportive learning environment for young players.
Team Manager
- In youth baseball, the term "team manager" can be used to refer to an individual who is responsible for the administrative and organizational aspects of the team. The role of a team manager in youth baseball is distinct from that of the coaches (head coach and assistant coaches), who focus on player development, practice sessions, and in-game strategies. The team manager typically handles off-field tasks that contribute to the smooth functioning of the team such as team communications, logistics, fundraising, parent coordination, etc.
